T. Thayaparan - National Coordinator
Thaya is a Founder member of PCA and has been National coordinator for the last seven years. He has 15 years local and international experience of facilitating and training on conflict matters and non violent processes. He hold an MA in Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation from the American University and an honorary doctorate from Ruhunu University. In 2009 Thaya received the Maja Khone International Peace Award for his international peace work.
Rebecca Booker - Project Advisor
Rebecca is a qualified Chartered Institute of Management Accountant
(CIMA) previously working within English Local Government Senior
Management. In addition to extensive management and finance experience
Rebecca is also a certified Life Coach and Master NLP practitioner.
Rebecca has been posted to Sri Lanka to join PCA by the UK INGO VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas). Her role is as specialist adviser to the National Coordinator and Senior Managers within PCA and PCA’s partner organisations.
Subramaniam Sivananthiny
Nanthiny has been the National Finance Officer for PCA since 2005.
Prior to this she worked in the private sector in accounting departments. She qualified as an International Associate Book keeper (IAB - UK) in 1999.
In 2009 Nanthiny attended international training in "Strategic Financial Planning for NGOs" from the UK based financial training group MaNGO.
She has 10 years experience in the accounts field within both private and public sectors.
2. AMPARA OFFICE
T.Rajendran - District Coordinator
Rajendran has 16 years of experience in the NGO field with 8 years of that being with the Kalmunai Peace Foundation as a Programme coordinator followed by 3 years experience as a Peace Coach in PCA and a further 5 years in his present post as PCA Ampara District Coordinator.
He attended the South Eastern University where he studied psychology and secured the "Professional Diploma in Psychology".
Since that time he has continued his professional development studying courses in "Conflict Transformation & Peace Building", "Child's Rights", "Human Rights", "Child Protection" and "Gender Studies". He is an experienced trainer developing modular workshops on "Volunteer Management", "Advanced Facilitation" and "Network Development". Rajendran believes that non-violence at work and in his private life is the only way to build peace in Sri Lanka. Thus he practices non violent approaches and NVC in his life and work.
Veerakkuddy Kumuthini
Veerakkuddy Kumuthini lives in Ampara district in Akkaraipattu.
She has 13 years experience in the NGO field. During this time she has had various roles including Administrative Officer, Community Mobilizer, Field Officer ,Project Officer, Secretary and then President to a CSO, and as a Peace Coach & Trainer in PCA. She has experience of multiple sectors such as developing livelihoods, Child Protection, Education, Emergency Relief (DRR),Women’s Development & Peace Building. Prior to working with PCA she worked at the Vipulananda Children’s Orphanage, Kalam Rural Reconstruction Foundation , Women Development Center, and Save the Children in Sri Lanka. She has also been a member of the Mediation Board in Alaydivembu for the last five years.
Mr Subramanium
Mr Subramanium came to PCA after retiring from his driving job with a local business.
He is committed to supporting PCA field staff at the Ampara District Office in every way he can. He is committed to understanding peace building work and attends training to help him to do this within PCA whenever he can.
Antony Ajanthan -
Programme Supervisor
Antony Ajanthan was born in Batticaloa and followed his studies in his home
town up to GCE and A/Level. He then completed his philosophy degree in
Kandy.
Ajanthan has lived and worked in the Uva province for couple of years in
different capacities. He has worked for international NGO's and joined PCA
in May 2010 to lead on their Global Xchange Programme.
3. MATARA OFFICE
Sureka Batagoda - District Coordinator
Sureka has 10 years experience in conflict transformation and peace building. She worked for 3 years as a peer mediator trainer developing conflict resolution within schools recording high levels of child abuse. She has worked within AHIMSA "Centre for Conflict Transformation" with slum children, and Swiss Contact and Save the Children before coming to PCA in 2006.
She holds the post of National Training Manager in PCA. She is an international women's trainer for peace and non violence for SAPA (South Asia Peace Alliance) and became a qualified international NVC practitioner (Non Violent Communication) in 2010.
She has a Degree in Sociology from Sri Jayawardanapura University in Sri Lanka (2008), a post graduate diploma in Community Development from Ruhuna University (2009), and a Certificate in Counselling Psychology (2003).
Nishantha Kumara - District Coordinator
Nishantha has 11 years experience in community development and peace building. He started his career as a volunteer serving for local organisations where he developed skills and knowledge in working with children and young people. He has worked with Terre des Hommes (tdh), Family Rehabilitation Center (FRC) and Sri Lanka Interactive Media Group (SLIMG-Colombo).
He joined PCA in 2006 as a researcher and at present he is working as a District Coordinator. He has a Diploma in Peace Education and Human Rights from Colombo University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling from Ruhuna University, Sri Lanka.
Krishan Abesiri Premathilaka - Trainee
Krishan Premathilaka is a Trainee Peace Coach in his second year of an apprenticeship with PCA. He studied in Vijitha Central College Dickwella. He has developed considerable skill knowledge and experience in Peace building and Nonviolence approaches since joining PCA in March 2010.
Jayatissa Manamperi - Team Leader
Jayatissa Manamperi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rununa University and has a solid background in Community development with INGOs and NGOs. He has particular strengths in vocational training, child centered community development ,community mobilization, water & sanitation projects, capacity Building and Peace building using NVC and Non violent approaches. He has worked as a Team Leader within PCA November 2010.
Gunasili Liyanagamage. - Caretaker
Gunasili Liyanagamage Joined PCA in 2007 as caretaker of our Southern Province in Matara. As well as looking after the building and staff she loves to write poetry about the work we do and life in Sri Lanka.
Ruvini Guniangoda - Peace Coach
Ruvini Guniangoda studied at St, Mary’s Convent Matara. After working for awhile she decided to return to education and is now studying for a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ruhuna. Ruvini has worked in INGOs and NGO’s and has particular strengths in Child Centered Community Development and Peace Building/Nonviolence. She has worked for PCA since April 2009 as a trainer and more recently as a Peace Coach.
Chathurika Chinthani
Chathurika Chinthani is a Trainee Peace Coach in her second year of an apprenticeship with PCA. She studied at Vijitha Central College Dickwella. She enjoys working to build peace in communities and developing her skills in non violence and is becoming an excellent Peace builder.
Upul Priyadarshana Hettiarachi - Peace Coach
Upul Hettiarachi studied at Horewela Maha Vidyalaya Walasmulla and is continuing his education by studying for a Bachelor Degree in commerce from the University of Jayawardanapura. He has focused his work on peace building within communities and has much knowledge and experiences in Peace building using Nonviolence approaches. Upul has worked as a Peace Coach within PCA since May 2009.
Wathsala Khemali - District Administrator
Wathsala Khemali has had responsibility for the administration of projects within the Matara Office since joining PCA in November 2010.
She works closely with staff to ensure projects have sound financial and administrative support. Wathsala is studying to complete the 2nd stage of proficiency with The Association of Accounting Technicians. She has previous experience of working in I/NGOs as an administrator and has attended additional training on Peace building within PCA to inform her work.
